International Literacy Training Institute 2017

June of 2016 brought yet another memorable International Literacy Training Institute (ILTI as we like to call it) at our headquarters in Tulsa, OK.  This year we had 9 participants from 6 different countries.

It's always one of the main highlights of our year to meet the wonderful people the Lord brings to LEI each summer.  For 5 weeks, we experience such an incredible mixture of committed believers from different parts of the globe - all who bring unique cultural and spiritual perspectives.  Let me take this chance to encourage anyone interested in missions, evangelism, discipleship, language, teaching, Bible study, or cross-cultural ministry to consider attending this top-notch training.  Wherever you are, the ILTI will give you skills to reach people in your community with the gospel.  You won't regret it! I recommend watching this short ILTI promo video.

This was the first year since 2006 that I haven't been able to teach the week of Leading Teacher Training Workshops.   Though we were sad to not get that time with the group, we had a very good reading for missing - my younger brother and his fiancé got married on June 25th!   Thankfully, Rev. Samuel and Dr. James were able to lead the TTW course brilliantly, for which we were very grateful.  And I was still able to teach the Literacy Overview course - one of my favorites (for all those curious about why literacy is such a needed AND NEGLECTED ministry you can watch the Literacy Overview video).

Also, I'm excited to announce that we've been working to develop online training courses for different sections of the ILTI.  This will enable folks from all over the world to get trained efficiently, inexpensively, and at their own pace.  I'll share more about that in another update.

For now, I hope you enjoy these photos from the 2016 ILTI (courtesy of Kenyon Gerbrant):

Reading is important so that believers can read songbooks and hymnals!

We worship together and share testimonies every day before lunch.
